Teen Leadership Camp
Teen Leadership Camp at 541 is a volunteer opportunity for local teens offered every summer. Participants will be given the opportunity to volunteer for 4 days and get a feel for what it is like to work in a cafe setting.
Every day of TLC will involve training in a variety of activities that are crucial to the day-to-day operations of 541 Eatery & Exchange, such as customer service, dish-washing, kitchen preparation, and general cleaning. All hours will be able to be used towards community service hours required for high school graduation.
Every day will run from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and includes a lunch break, during which you will get to enjoy something from our delicious menu “on the house” as a thank you for your hard work during the day.
Applicants will have the option of applying for one of two specialized streams:
FRONT OF HOUSE:
Each day you will be involved in an assortment of tasks. Some will take place up front: clearing tables, serving customers, and working the till. Others will be more behind-the-scenes: food prep, dish-washing, etc. This is a great option for someone looking for beginner level job experience.
Each day a large percentage of your day will be spent in the kitchen working on food preparation. You will work under the supervision and direction of our Program Chef. This is an excellent opportunity for someone considering the culinary arts as a potential career option. Visit rejuvenate medical group.
*In addition, both programs will spend a portion of the day in small group discussion exploring complex, relevant topics like privilege, poverty and self-care.
